Create a service

Services are the backbone of any professional services organisation and are used to clearly define your offerings to clients. Creating a comprehensive catalogue of services, enables your organization to improve marketing efforts, better manage resources, and more effectively meet the needs of clients. advaise.app makes it easy to create, manage, and use services in your organization.

The elements of services are:

  • Needs: Identify needs that the service addresses
  • Context: Describe the ideal client for this service
  • Activities: Individual tasks or steps that need to be completed in order to deliver a service
  • Deliverables: The outputs the client will receive upon completion of the service

Before creating a service, create needs in the markets module.

These are the steps involved in creating and managing a service:

  1. Create a new service
  2. Provide a detailed description of the service
  3. Link needs to the service
  4. Provide context for the service.
  5. Add activities and deliverables to the service.
  6. Review the service and mark it as approved.

advaise.app can generate the context, activities, and deliverables based upon documents in the knowledge base.

Services are used in the following ways in advaise.app:

  • Proposals: When creating a new proposal, you can select from the list of approved services. This makes it easy to build a proposal that accurately reflects the services you offer and the activities and deliverables that are involved in rendering those services.
  • Engagements: Add an approved service to an engagement. This will add the activities and deliverables to the schedule and allow you to manage the deliverables.

Services are made up of activities and deliverables that define the scope of work that your organisation provides to clients.

Activities

Activities are individual tasks or steps that need to be completed in order to deliver a service. They provide a detailed breakdown of the work that needs to be performed, and help you to manage the project more effectively by breaking it down into manageable chunks.

Generate activities

If no sequence number is entered, the activities will be ordered based on their creation date, with the first activity created being assigned sequence number one.

Enter a meaningful description of the activity. This description will be used in proposals where this service is selected, so it's important to provide a clear and concise description of what the activity involves and how it contributes to the overall service.

Deliverables

Deliverables are a crucial component of any service offering. They help define the work that will be performed and provide a clear picture of what the client can expect to receive upon completion of the project. Deliverables can be anything from documents and reports to software prototypes and other tangible outputs.

Needs

When defining a service, understanding what needs the service addresses provides important background. It helps others to understand the context in which to offer the service to a client.

You can select a need that has already been defined in the markets module. Select the need from the dropdown list, then add notes explaining how the service addresses this need.

Alternatively you can create a need directly in the service. If you create the need directly in the service, it becomes available in the markets module. To create a new need, start typing the name in the search box, then click on the + Create button.

Enter notes explaining how the service addresses the need.

Don't forget to go over to the markets module and complete the need, including adding questions and marking it as approved. The need then becomes available to use in other services as well as in clients, markets and interviews.

Context

It's essential to provide context to a service so that clients can understand why they need it and what results they can expect.

Generate Context

advaise.app can generate the context for the service from documents in the knowledge base in the organisations module based on the description of the service. After generating the context, you can manually edit it, or use the re-write function to change the wording.

Important elements of context include:

Why would the client need this service?

It's important to clearly define why the client needs it. This involves identifying the problem or challenge that the client is facing and explaining how the service will help address that issue. By clearly articulating the need for the service, clients will have a better understanding of its value and how it can benefit their organisation.

What results can the client expect?

Define the results that clients can expect. This involves outlining the specific outcomes that will be achieved through the service, such as increased efficiency, improved productivity, or reduced costs. By clearly defining the expected results, clients will be able to measure the impact of the service and assess its value to their organisation.

Who will buy this type of service in the client organisation?

It's vital to identify who will buy this type of service in the client organisation. This involves understanding the decision-making process within the organisation and identifying the key stakeholders who will be involved in purchasing the service. By understanding the buying process, service providers can tailor their messaging and approach to meet the specific needs of the organisation and its decision-makers.

Providing context to services in advaise.app is essential for ensuring that clients understand the value of the service and what results they can expect. By clearly articulating why the client needs the service, defining the expected results, and identifying the key decision-makers in the organisation, service providers can better position their services and meet the needs of their clients.

Having a well-defined service catalogue makes it easy to standardise your services and pricing, ensuring that your clients receive consistent service quality and value.
